Who We Serve

Bridge the Gap holds a steadfast belief that every child has the power and ability to rise to their fullest potential, and we’re here to help them get there.

Supporting All Students

We proudly aim to inspire and support the underserved students of Marin City and Southern Marin County. Our students are primarily from low income families of color and attend schools in the Sausalito Marin City and Tam Union High School Districts.

Students come to us with many factors influencing their school success and level of self-efficacy. Many also face significant challenges and trauma associated with economic hardship and community marginalization. At Bridge the Gap, we strive to meet kids where they are, support them in the best way possible, and help them develop the tools they need to grow as students and individuals. Bridge the Gap strives to create opportunity and further equity in this wonderful community.

About Marin City

Marin City is a profoundly resilient and tight-knit community full of love and hope. And yet it’s a community of color that has experienced marginalization and economic inequity amid a historically whiter, more affluent surrounding county. In fact, Marin County is one of the most racially disparate counties in California.

This city originated as a wartime ship-building community with Black laborers who migrated from elsewhere in the country. Across decades, systemic racism and economic forces have perpetuated inequity here, leading to the educational disparities Bridge the Gap seeks to address in our work.
